Tom Gibbs takes the win in The Open Adventure 5 hour series

The Open Adventure 5 hour series (UK's premier one day Adventure Race series)  moved on to the beautiful Long Mynd area of Shropshire.  As this was furthest south of the series people would be expecting warm conditions, but were welcomed by a blizzard before the start.
For Whyte sponsored athlete, Tom Gibbs, this reinforced his decision to run first before taking on the bike course.  The run was pretty slippy due to the fresh snow and steep contours the terrain offered.  As such competitors have to be careful not doing too much or too little.  Tom spent just under 2 hours running and collected the majority of points available before jumping on his T-129.
Shod with some fast rubber and lightweight race wheels the full sus T-129 showed it's great versatility performing like a cross-country bike on the climbs, but offering trail like performance downhill.  With very muddy conditions suspension at both ends helped grip and inspired confidence, helping Tom to rip round the bike checkpoints, clearing the course and returning just inside the overall 5 hour time limit.
Once the mud (no dust today !) had settled, Tom's performance was good enough to convincingly win not only the solo category but top scoring overall.
