Carl Jennings on his G-160 Works powered by SRAM, finishes 3rd in the well attended opening race of the Season in the Welsh Gravity Enduro Winter/Spring Mash up Series, R1 at Glyncorrwg, Afan valley

Carl Jennings. Whyte Enduro Race Team Rider. Vets class.
Kicking off my 2017 race campaign with the Welsh Gravity Enduro Winter/Spring Mash up Series, rnd 1 at Glyncorrwg, Afan valley. This race had three trail centre stages (The Black, The Rock and Happy Life) which opened at 10am and closed at 3:30pm and were run under the Mash up format. This meant you could ride them as many times as you liked and only your fastest runs would count. Event HQ was in the Glyncorrwg Ponds trail centre lounge area with live timing screens to show racers and spectators alike the racers positions. Live timing is provided by Chris Roberts ‘Sports Action Timing’ so you can check via your smart phone your stage times straight after your run! Very handy if your chasing the podiums or if you are just after bragging rights with your mates in the van ride home.

Having completed a run of each stage in very cold, high winds and even snow on the top of stage 1, it was time to hit them again, this time with a bit more knowledge of what was the better line choice or what was after the blind, rock slab drops! I managed to shave quite a few seconds of each run which put me in 3rd place in vets class (and only 1 second off 2nd place!) and a safe podium to start my new race season off……Tidy like.  ;-)
